Yes the war in Ukraine is part of the reason. But Ukrainians can't be blamed for fighting to maintain their sovereignty, their freedom. If you want to place the blame somewhere, look directly at power hungry Putin. He is a huge part of the problem, esp, regarding fossll fuel use. - The year in climate action: three steps forward, two steps back
What is it with MAGA candidates that they refuse to stop their BS, such weaklings, such losers in so many different ways. Oh, & btw, it's official, Hamadeh L.O.S.T. AZ already kicked him to the curb when they voted for his opponent who is the declared winner in the 2022 election. Still he continues to spread his conspiracy theories like that will change anything. - 'Assessing our options': Hamadeh calls for hand count, explores legal avenues in AG race via @azcentral

What's really troubling, something new to me, but probably not for others, Pres. Eisenhower "granted the area special protection in 1955" that Congress decided to open it up to drilling in 2014, w/the excuse, National Defense Authorization Act was to be signed into law. And guess who's idea it was to lift these protections: Sen. John McCain. He has never supported the indigenous people in AZ, and this gives me more reason never to admire this guy. He has no issues with destroying sacred sites. - Oak Flat and the Fight for Sacred Ground
No lessons were learned from Church Rock? It's called uranium contamination. It's in the water, the water families drink, livestock drink, wildlife drive. Uranium contamination leads to cancer. Stop making indigenous lands national sacrifice areas. Enough! How long have these lands been waiting to clean up? How many promises have been made but have never been followed thorough on? I won't believe anything said about clean ups till they actually happen. Will I even be alive to see it become reality? And how will those negatively affected be compensated? - The Cold War legacy lurking in U.S. groundwater via @Source_NM
Coal was a big part of Navajo life for many years. It also usurped much of the aquifers, particularly in Arizona. What's described here is no different than the Black Mesa and Kayenta Mines run by Peabody Energy. What's described here is in New Mexico. - Transitioning away from coal leaves Navajo communities struggling
