Quite a read. I knew from experience how hot it can be in AZ in the Phx/Tempe area. This blew my mind. As for that discussion of electric bills, I remember one of $400+ one more in the late 80s. for 1 month. This article also talked about trailer homes built before 1974 “when the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development set federal standards, tend to be poorly insulated and made from materials that are entirely inappropriate for a desert, like metal” - just a note, the GOP were in power then, Nixon in fact. This is a good read. Maybe some of us fall in the atheist Jew category, but it doesn’t make us less Jewish. The catastrophic events of 10/7 live on in all of us, drawing us together as antisemitism continues to rise. I didn’t have any grandparents to warn me. They had all passed before my parents married. Their parents escaped the pogroms in what was called Russia, which is now Ukraine, the Kviv area. Not all of my relatives left. Some I know didn’t survive the Holocaust. This is not something before now that I’ve really been open about much. - This is what our grandparents warned us about.
